Refine your outdoor spaces with the clean lines and sophisticated color consistency of Watson Materials' 3/8" crushed blue stone. Featuring a balanced palette of deep blues and charcoal greys, this small-aggregate stone delivers a refined aesthetic while offering reliable surface coverage for residential and commercial projects. Whether you are laying a comfortable walking path or surfacing a cozy fire pit area in East Greenwich, this finely graded material provides a neat, uniform finish across southern New England.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Fine 3/8-Inch Sizing: Smaller, tightly proportioned crushed pieces that create a smooth, comfortable surface underfoot compared to larger coarse aggregates.

  • Striking Blue-Grey Tone: Naturally weathered slate and blue hues that offer a clean, decorative contrast against green lawns, mulch beds, and architectural stone.

  • Consistent Grading: Screened for uniform particle distribution, ensuring even depth and stable placement across heavily trafficked zones.

  • Job-Site Efficiency: Spreads effortlessly and rakes smoothly, reducing installation time for landscaping contractors and property owners throughout Rhode Island.

  • Flexible Bulk Ordering: Supplied in practical 0.5 cubic yard increments to match exact project footprints and minimize excess material waste.

Ideal Applications

  • Decorative Garden Walkways: Forms a neat, comfortable-to-walk-on surface layer for backyard paths and garden trails.

  • Residential Parking Areas: Provides a functional, attractive top dressing for low-speed driveways and vehicle parking bays.

  • Fire Pit Surrounds: Creates a clean, non-combustible perimeter ground cover around outdoor fire features and patio sitting spaces.

  • Detailed Landscape Borders: Acts as a decorative ground cover around planting beds, shrubs, and architectural retaining walls.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much 3/8" blue stone do I need to order?

One cubic yard covers approximately 100 square feet at a 3-inch depth. To determine your total volume, multiply your project's length by width in feet, multiply by the desired depth in inches, and divide by 36.

How is this material sold and delivered?

This aggregate is available in bulk for local pickup and delivery across Rhode Island, sold in 0.5 cubic yard increments. Please note that minimum order requirements apply for delivery services.

Is 3/8" blue stone comfortable to walk on?

Yes - with appropriate footwear. Because of its smaller scale, 3/8" crushed stone provides a smoother walking surface than larger 3/4" or 1.5" varieties, making it a popular choice for footpaths. If the path is to be traversed barefoot or using sandals, we recommend considering our rounded 3/8" Peas Stone as a more comfortable alternative. Crushed stone can always have some edges due to it's manufacturing process.

Does this stone require maintenance after installation?

Very little. Periodic raking keeps the surface even, and occasional rinsing clears away surface dust to keep the blue-grey color vibrant.

Pro Contractor Tip

When installing 3/8" blue stone for pathways or sitting areas, lay a stabilized, compacted base of stone dust or crushed fines underneath and edge the perimeter with landscape restraints. This prevents the smaller stones from migrating outward into turf or garden beds under routine foot traffic.
